Google Brings AI-Powered Search Mode to Pakistan with Gemini 2.5
August 27, 2025 (MLN): Google has officially launched its advanced AI Mode in Pakistan, marking the beginning of a smarter and more interactive search experience for local users.
Initially rolled out in the United States earlier this year, the feature is now expanding to multiple countries, with Pakistan among the latest markets to receive access.
Powered by Gemini 2.5, Google’s most sophisticated AI model to date, AI Mode is designed to handle longer, more complex queries that typically required multiple searches in the past. The tool is currently available in English and can be accessed via the Google app on Android and iOS, as well as through both mobile and desktop browsers.
According to early tests, users are already typing questions that are two to three times longer than traditional searches. This makes the feature especially useful for trip planning, shopping comparisons, educational resources, and “how-to” guides.
Google explains that AI Mode can break down queries into subtopics, search them simultaneously, and deliver well-rounded answers with additional links for deeper exploration. For example, a Pakistani user planning a five-day trip can ask for a full itinerary combining sightseeing, food, and adventure—along with follow-up questions like, “What are the best local dishes to try in that region?”
The feature is also valuable for education-focused searches. Parents can request free resources to help a grade 9 student struggling with math, followed by prompts like: “Which YouTube channels or apps are best for interactive algebra practice?”
AI Mode goes beyond text by supporting multimodal interaction. Users can upload images or speak their queries. For instance, a picture of unknown spices from a local market can be paired with the question: “What are these spices and how can I use them in Pakistani recipes?”
Behind the scenes, Google uses a “query fan out” technique that splits a question into multiple parts, runs simultaneous searches, and combines results from the Knowledge Graph, live web data, and billions of product listings.
While AI Mode aims to deliver more personalized and in-depth results, Google has cautioned that, as with any early-stage AI system, responses may not always be 100% accurate. Still, the rollout promises to transform how Pakistanis search, learn, and explore online.
