Apple iPhone 17 Series to Launch on September 9: What’s Coming and What’s Going Away
Apple fans can mark their calendars for September 9, as the tech giant is gearing up to unveil the iPhone 17 lineup. The new series will reportedly include four models — the standard iPhone 17, the ultra-slim iPhone 17 Air, the iPhone 17 Pro, and Apple’s top-tier flagship, the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Alongside the smartphones, Apple is also expected to reveal the next-generation Apple Watch models and the long-awaited AirPods Pro 3.
But there’s a catch. With new devices entering the market, some older iPhones and accessories will be phased out.
Apple’s usual strategy involves keeping its previous-year non-Pro models at a reduced price. This means the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus may stay on sale with an estimated $100 (around ₹8,800) price cut, while the older iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are likely to be discontinued once existing stock runs out.
On the premium side, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are expected to be discontinued to make room for the latest Pro models. Similarly, if Apple introduces the Watch Series 11 and Watch Ultra 3, the Watch Series 10 and Watch Ultra 2 will likely be retired.
The audio lineup is also seeing a refresh — the AirPods Pro (2nd Gen) are anticipated to be replaced by the AirPods Pro (3rd Gen), offering upgraded performance and features.
In short, while Apple enthusiasts can look forward to exciting new launches, they should also be prepared to say goodbye to some beloved older models.
